Time:2021-06-03

On a bright March morning, the two beloved cats of the Shenzhen University Xili Project Department, "Afu" and "Taozi", were still sound asleep, while the project staff were already working non-stop to make the final push for the upcoming 6.30 deadline. In the procurement and contract office, a busy and handsome young man is intensively arranging work. He is 27-year-old Zhou Zhiqiang, currently the procurement and contract manager of the Shenzhen University Xili project.

The Jiangnan region is so vast. I want to take a stroll there

"I'm a graduate of the class of 2017. The job-hunting journey back then was extremely tough. I interviewed with many companies and got office positions from several of them. But in the end, I chose Jiangnan Management. There are work sections that match my major here, and the projects are spread all over the country. I want to explore everywhere." "

In fact, at the very beginning, he didn't visit many cities. Instead, he delved deeply into his professional field and continuously improved his professional skills. Zhou Zhiqiang's first project in his career was the cost management position of the Bengbu Sports Center project in Anhui Province. Here, his diligence, eagerness to learn, and down-to-earth progress earned him a thumbs-up from the project leader.

It is now the fourth year that Zhou Zhiqiang has been managing at Jiangnan. From being unfamiliar with this industry to making up his mind to settle down, the company has not only provided him with a platform for growth but also offered him sufficient support. In 2019, Zhou Zhiqiang came to the headquarters in Hangzhou to participate in the Ivy League Training Camp. The words of the mentor at the training camp made him recognize the direction of his growth: "If young people want to grow up quickly, they need to be trained in multiple positions, develop comprehensively, establish the concept of active learning, think deeply, and thereby enhance their core competitiveness." With more professional knowledge and experience, one can think about problems more comprehensively and systematically. From then on, Zhou Zhiqiang was determined to learn more and do more, constantly enriching himself and learning professional knowledge in his spare time. At present, he has obtained the certificates of Second-level Constructor and first-level BIM Modeler. This year, he is preparing for the first-level constructor examination.

Study hard and achieve rapid growth

Just after completing the settlement work at the Bengbu Sports Center, Zhou Zhiqiang was transferred to the Shenzhen University Xili Campus (Phase II) project, which was in urgent need of personnel, to continue working on cost management. After years of adjustment and collaboration, the Shenzhen Municipal Public Works Bureau has developed a top-down trust in Jiangnan Management. Therefore, in the Xili project, it has also granted full authorization to the project department. In such a favorable environment, Zhou Zhiqiang can better display his talents and provide professional technical services with greater confidence. In the Xili project, he continued to rely on his upright working attitude and outstanding working ability, adhering to the fine style of "being down-to-earth and hardworking" of Jiangnan Management, and soon gained the recognition and trust of the owner.

In May 2020, the Xili project made personnel adjustments based on the actual needs of the project. When needed, Zhou Zhiqiang volunteered to take on the responsibility of the bidding cost alone. As he had never conducted any bidding before and the internal control system for bidding of the Public Works Department was very complete, when he first took over, Zhou Zhiqiang was completely at a loss. He had no idea how to handle the document preparation and approval process. The first bidding work he was in charge of took him a full two months. Only those who have experienced it can understand the hardships. Next, he reflected on his past mistakes, summarized his experiences, and worked hard to study. His work finally went smoothly. Within just one year, he successfully completed over 20 bidding tasks and achieved rapid growth within a limited time.

Travel far and wide and become the strongest foreign aid

In his spare time from the intense work and study, he actively cooperated with the bidding and cost estimation work of other projects of the company, gradually becoming a highly sought-after technical support for other projects. Since the establishment of the cost estimation team of the branch company, Zhou Zhiqiang has organized and processed 35 technical support orders within half a year. He has participated in the settlement work of the Qianhai Rule of Law Building project, gone to the Guilin Convention and Exhibition Center project in Guilin to cooperate with the company's bidding, and supported the bidding work of the Xinhua Hospital project group, etc. His outstanding working ability has been highly favored, and the projects he has supported often gain much confidence because of his arrival. Through extensive support and practical training, he himself has further enhanced his capabilities and perspective in professional, coordination, and management aspects.

Those who work hard will be favored by luck. Those who strive will have ladders hanging down from the clouds. Those who spare no effort have their dreams right under their feet. In 2019, Zhou Zhiqiang was awarded the title of "Outstanding Employee" by Jiangnan Management. In 2020, I was once again awarded the title of "Outstanding Employee of the Month" for the Shenzhen University Xili (Phase II) project. In just four years, from a fresh graduate to a well-known project procurement contract manager, Zhou Zhiqiang is undoubtedly one of the outstanding young employees. Like most of us, he also came from an ordinary position, accumulated experience through trials and tribulations, painstakingly studied the standard procedures of the client, comprehensively extended his professional expertise, and actively responded to the company's task assignments... All success stems from unremitting efforts.

May you, like him, never stop on the road to excellence. The harder you work, the luckier you will be.
