From April 12th to 13th, 2025, the Infrastructure Division successfully held the "Insight into Tunnel Risks, Intelligence Leading the Way" seminar on Risk Prevention and Control in Rail Transit Tunnel construction at the Project Supervision Department of the Southern Extension of Xiamen Rail Transit Line 3. The meeting focused on the key issues of risk prevention and control in shield construction. Over a hundred main responsible persons from the Infrastructure Division participated both online and offline, providing technical reserves and management experience for more than 30 major projects that are about to enter the shield construction stage.
A gathering of authorities: Exploring the Way to Risk Prevention and Control Together
In his speech at the meeting, Liu Zifu, the vice president of the company, emphasized particularly: "Shield construction is the core link in rail transit construction, and the ability to prevent and control risks directly affects the success or failure of the project." This meeting specially invited the commander of the southern extension of Xiamen Metro Line 3, experts from China Railway Tunnel Group, China Railway First Group, Shenzhen Metro and other units to inject professional strength into the meeting from the dimensions of technical breakthroughs and management innovation.
Technology Empowerment: Solving the Core Problems of Shield Construction

On the first day's agenda, several keynote speeches directly addressed the key and difficult points of the industry. The deputy chief engineer of China Railway Tunnel Group, under the title of "Analysis of Risk Control and Key Issues in Shield Construction", deeply analyzed the risk response strategies for "shield leakage" by combining typical domestic and foreign cases. Experts from China Railway First Group focused on the complex geological environment along the coast and shared the latest achievements in the selection of shield machine tools and the optimization of tunneling parameters. Shenzhen Metro experts, from the perspective of building a safety management system, emphasized the control concept of "human-machine monitoring". Participants all expressed that the report's content was both theoretically profound and of practical value, providing an important reference for subsequent project management work.
Integration of knowledge and Action: On-site observation and specialized training deepen the transformation of achievements

To strengthen the integration of theory and practice, on the afternoon of the 12th, all the participants went deep into the construction site of the southern extension of Xiamen Metro Line 3 to conduct on-site inspections of key links such as the operation of shield machines, segment assembly and risk monitoring. The project leader demonstrated the operation mechanism of the intelligent monitoring system on the spot, which sparked a heated discussion. The next day, internal experts of the company, Yu Xiaohua and Zheng Zhitao, respectively conducted training sessions on the process control of supervision and the risk prevention of metro construction in the Jiangnan region. Taking the Wuxi Metro project as an example, Zheng Zhitao elaborately analyzed the innovative technology for controlling the settlement of soft soil layers, providing a replicable solution for the front-line team.

At the end of the meeting, Liu Zifu, the vice president of the company, made a comprehensive summary of the meeting and pointed out specific and forward-looking work requirements for enhancing the ability to create customer value and empower the team.

Project Background
The southern extension project of Xiamen Metro Line 3

The southern extension project of Xiamen Metro Line 3 starts from Shapowei Station in the south and ends at Xiamen Railway Station in the north, with a total length of 8.5 kilometers. It consists of 5 stations and 6 sections and is fully underground. All the stations are underground stations, among which there is one transfer station: Xiamen University Baicheng Station (for transfer to the planned Line 7 passage). The maximum distance between stations is 3.733km(from Shangli Xincun Station to the mountainous section of Xiamen Railway Station), the minimum distance between stations is 0.765km(from Zengcuo 埯 station to shangli xincun station), and the average distance between stations is 1.702km. This line connects Xiamen Railway station, the World Trade Center business circle and Zengcuo 埯 and other areas with dense tourism resources, covering the Xiamen-hong Kong area and the living area along the southwest coast of the main island. It effectively alleviates the superimposed pressure of tourist flow and commuting traffic, and enhances the regional transportation carrying capacity. Meanwhile, as an extension of the existing Line 3, it strengthens the cross-sea connection between the main island and Xiang 'an District, further optimizing the urban spatial layout.
